The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false a report circulating in parts of the media claiming that the party has fixed prices for its expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, described the report as fake, misleading and not authorised by the party’s leadership.

Morka clarified that the ruling party has not taken any decision regarding the sale or pricing of nomination forms for the 2027 elections, stressing that any information suggesting otherwise should be disregarded by party members and the general public.

“The attention of the All Progressives Congress has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in sections of the media regarding a purported price list for expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 General Elections,” the statement read.

“The APC states categorically that the report is fake and did not emanate from the party. To be clear, no decision or announcement has been made on the sale or pricing of forms for the 2027 elections. The report is a mere figment of the writer’s mischievous imagination.”

The party further urged journalists and political stakeholders to always verify sensitive political information through official party communication channels to avoid spreading misinformation capable of misleading the public and heating up the political atmosphere unnecessarily.
Political observers note that although the 2027 general elections are still about a year away, early political permutations and speculations have already begun across party lines, especially among aspirants positioning themselves for key elective offices.

The APC statement is seen as part of efforts by the party leadership to control the narrative and prevent confusion among aspirants and supporters, particularly following experiences from previous election cycles where the cost of nomination forms generated public debate about the affordability of Nigeria’s electoral process.

During the 2023 general elections, major political parties, including the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), faced criticism from civil society organisations over the high cost of nomination forms, which many argued limited participation to only wealthy aspirants.

The Merit Newspaper reports that Analysts say the party may announce its guidelines and timetable for the 2027 elections at the appropriate time in accordance with the schedule to be released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC therefore advised its members and the public to rely only on official statements from the party regarding preparations for the next general elections.
The statement was signed by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the APC.
