Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, former governor Bisi Akande and former governor Adegboyega Oyetola are among prominent political figures expected to participate in the inauguration of the Osun State chapter of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The inauguration, scheduled for today, Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the Oasis Event Centre in Osogbo, is expected to bring together political leaders and stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Accord Party and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The development was announced in a statement attributed to Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, who is the state coordinator of the presidential campaign council.

The proposed council brings together serving and former public office holders, party executives, lawmakers, former legislators, local government chairpersons and other political stakeholders from across Osun State.
Among the APC leaders listed for participation are Akande, Oyetola, former senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Ajibola Basiru, former senators Jide Omoworare and Sola Adeyeye, as well as former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Foluke Etteh.

Other prominent figures named include Bola Oyebamiji, former deputy governors Erelu Olusola Obada and Kola Adewusi, Senator Lere Oyewumi, House of Representatives member Bamidele Salam and other serving and former political office holders.
The inclusion of politicians from different party backgrounds makes the Osun campaign council a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general election.

Governor Adeleke belongs to the Accord Party, while Akande and Oyetola are prominent APC figures. The PDP is also represented in the proposed council through some of its serving and former office holders.
The arrangement is expected to provide a platform for coordination, grassroots mobilisation and engagement with voters across the state’s local government areas, wards and communities.
Adeleke’s role as state coordinator is particularly noteworthy, given that he belongs to a different political party from Tinubu’s APC. His participation reflects his publicly reported support for the President’s second-term ambition.
The governor has previously explained his support for Tinubu in terms of the President’s regional background and the need to ensure the completion of major federal infrastructure projects in the South-West.
The Merit Newspaper reports that the campaign council is expected to coordinate political activities in Osun and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the presidential election.
However, the extent to which the cross-party arrangement will translate into electoral support remains to be seen as political parties and their candidates prepare for the 2027 polls.
