Akure, Ondo State —October 23, 2026

The National Leadership of SMART BOYS MOVEMENT (SBM) Nigeria has commended Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, over the South-West Town Hall Meeting held at The Dome in Akure, Ondo State.

The movement described the gathering as an important platform for political engagement, regional dialogue and the promotion of progressive leadership, particularly in encouraging greater youth participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Speaking with journalists at the event, the National Convener and Executive Director of SMART BOYS MOVEMENT, Hon. Funso Jide Adekunle, popularly known as Honourable Fushi, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to mobilising Nigerian youths in support of Makinde’s presidential ambition and other APM candidates across the country.

Adekunle said the movement would strengthen its national and grassroots structures to expand youth engagement through communities, campuses, wards, local governments and states.

He stressed the need for young Nigerians to move beyond political discussions and embrace active civic participation, informed decision-making, peaceful mobilisation and responsible electoral engagement.

According to him, SBM aims to encourage eligible youths to participate in the democratic process and support candidates whose policies and leadership priorities align with their aspirations for good governance, economic opportunities, national unity, youth empowerment and sustainable development.

The SBM leader added that the movement would pursue strategic partnerships with political parties and stakeholders supporting Makinde’s presidential candidacy to build a broad-based youth coalition across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

He also urged the movement’s state chapters, senatorial coordinators, local government coordinators, ward leaders and polling unit coordinators to strengthen their organisational capacity and intensify voter awareness, civic education and grassroots engagement ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Reaffirming the movement’s philosophy of “SMART THINKING • SMART LEADERSHIP • SMART FUTURE,” Adekunle said young people had an important role to play in promoting accountability, peaceful democratic competition and credible leadership through lawful electoral participation.

SMART BOYS MOVEMENT congratulated Makinde, the organisers, political stakeholders and participants for their contributions to the town hall meeting, expressing optimism that the engagement would strengthen political collaboration and deepen discussions about Nigeria’s future.
