Lead City University, Ibadan, witnessed a memorable convocation ceremony on Monday, December 2, 2024, as Anjola Olaniran, a Mass Communication graduate, celebrated her academic achievements. Olaniran’s inspiring journey began in October 2018 at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos, where she laid the foundation for her success by earning a National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication and Journalism.

Reflecting on her journey, Olaniran said, “My time at NIJ taught me the fundamentals of journalism and communication. It was a stepping stone that prepared me for the challenges ahead at Lead City University.”

Determined to further her education, Olaniran transitioned to Lead City University, where she excelled academically, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.71. Her outstanding performance placed her among the 12 students in the department who graduated with first-class honors.

“My academic success is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support of my family and lecturers,” Olaniran remarked. “Achieving a first-class degree is a dream come true, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me throughout this journey.”

Out of the 61 Mass Communication students who began the program, 47 graduated in the 2024 academic year. The breakdown of results includes 12 first-class honors, 30 second-class upper honors, and five second-class lower honors.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lead City University, Professor Aderemi Adeyemo, commended the graduates for their dedication and resilience. “Our students have consistently demonstrated excellence, and their achievements today affirm the university’s commitment to academic and professional development,” he stated during the ceremony.

Olaniran aspires to make a significant impact in the media industry. “My goal is to contribute to society by using my skills to promote ethical journalism and effective communication,” she shared enthusiastically.

Her story is an inspiring reminder of the power of ambition and determination, serving as a beacon of hope for many young Nigerians aspiring to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
