The Fuji music industry witnessed an unforgettable evening on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, as Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, popularly known as Oganla and Ijoba Fuji, celebrated his remarkable 40 years on stage. The event, held at the prestigious Balmoral Event Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, attracted an impressive array of Fuji music legends, hip-hop artists, fans, and dignitaries from across the globe.
Among the Fuji icons who graced the occasion were General Killington Ayinla, K1 De Ultimate, Rasheed Merenge, Sefiu Alao, Saheed Osupa, KS1 Malaika, Igwe Remi Aluko, Tiri Leather, and Tope Nautica. Their performances showcased the vibrancy and enduring appeal of the Fuji music genre, cementing the event as a historic moment in the annals of Nigerian music.
The celebration also saw the attendance of notable hip-hop and Afrobeat stars, further bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary Nigerian music genres. Fans of Fuji music traveled from countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, and France to witness the landmark occasion, highlighting the global reach of Pasuma’s influence.
Prominent Nigerian billionaires and Yoruba cultural enthusiasts added a touch of glamour to the evening, celebrating Pasuma’s contributions to the Fuji music industry and his role in preserving Yoruba culture through his art.
Speaking at the event, Pasuma expressed gratitude to his colleagues, fans, and supporters who have stood by him throughout his four-decade career. He reaffirmed his commitment to Fuji music and pledged to continue promoting the genre on the global stage.
Many attendees described the celebration as the best Fuji music event of 2024, noting the rare convergence of Fuji legends under one roof. The electrifying performances and camaraderie among the artists left a lasting impression on fans and industry stakeholders alike.
Pasuma’s 40th-anniversary celebration was not just a night of music but a testament to the enduring legacy of Fuji music and its ability to unite people across cultures and borders.
