Excellency Adebayo Adelabu and Ijoba Fuji

By Ibrahim Kegbegbe

Renowned Fuji musician Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, popularly known as Oganla Fuji, has publicly endorsed Adebayo Adelabu, also known as Penkelemesi, for the governorship of Oyo State in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

Pasuma, in his newly released album titled One Love, urged citizens of Oyo State to support and vote for Adelabu, emphasizing his leadership qualities and vision for the state. The endorsement has sparked discussions across political and entertainment circles, given Pasuma’s influence in the southwest region.

Adebayo Adelabu, currently serving as Nigeria’s Minister of Power, has been gaining widespread support from various quarters. His admirers argue that he possesses a deep understanding of governance that extends beyond infrastructural projects such as the construction of motor parks, which some critics have questioned for their financial feasibility.

Supporters have taken to social media and local platforms to express confidence in Adelabu’s leadership potential. One citizen remarked, “Go to the streets of Oyo; ask any market man and woman about Penkelemesi. They will tell you he’s the best candidate.” Another added, “You need to read or listen to his declaration speech. You will be convinced that he understands governance beyond building motor parks at 5 billion naira.”

Adelabu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has a track record in financial and economic management. His supporters believe his expertise will be instrumental in driving Oyo State’s development if elected governor in 2027.

As political activities intensify ahead of the election, the endorsement by Pasuma is expected to further strengthen Adelabu’s campaign, particularly among young voters and fans of Fuji music across the state.
