Dr. Titilayo Soji-Oni

Lagos, Nigeria — June 7, 2025

Students and alumni of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos, have extended warm congratulations to one of their esteemed lecturers, Dr. Titilayo Soji-Oni, on the successful completion of her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in English Language from Babcock University on May 30, 2025.

Dr. Soji-Oni, who taught English Language—particularly grammar—during the National Diploma programme for the 2018 intake at NIJ, played a significant role in laying the linguistic foundation for many aspiring journalists. Her instruction during the first semester of year one and the second semester of year two of the ND programme proved instrumental in shaping the communication skills and writing proficiency of her former students.

Reflecting on her impact, Ibrahim Kegbegbe, a graduate of the institution and one of her former students, remarked:
“Dr. Soji-Oni was more than a lecturer—she was a compass guiding us through the complex terrain of English grammar. Her classes were not only instructive but also transformational. Today, many of us are proud, confident journalists because of the foundation she helped lay.”

He added, “On behalf of my colleagues and the entire NIJ community, I heartily congratulate Dr. Titilayo Soji-Oni on this academic achievement. We are immensely proud of her and inspired by her unwavering pursuit of excellence.”

Dr. Soji-Oni’s academic journey is a testament to resilience, dedication, and the pursuit of knowledge—a narrative that echoes the values she imparted to her students. Her accomplishment stands not only as a personal triumph but also as a beacon of hope and a model of intellectual advancement for the academic and media communities alike.
