ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — October 29, 2025

The Ogun State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Barrister John Olufemi Aina, has expressed appreciation to the party’s former Southwest Zonal National Public Relations Officer, Hon. Comrade Kilamuwaye Badmus Oladayo — popularly known as BAKO — for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the growth of the NNPP in the state and the region.

Aina made the remarks in Abeokuta on Wednesday while reacting to the resignation of Badmus from both his position and the party earlier in the day.

According to Aina, Badmus’ departure will leave a visible gap within the NNPP family, particularly in Ogun State, where his leadership and communication skills helped drive the party’s message to the grassroots during and after the 2023 general elections.

“Kilamuwaye will be greatly missed within the NNPP family for his robust views, constructive suggestions, and tireless energy, which contributed immensely to the modest successes the party has recorded so far,” Aina said.

He commended the former zonal spokesman for following due process in his resignation, describing his conduct as “honourable and exemplary.”

“Unlike some marabout politicians who engage in double-dealing or play hanky-panky when leaving a political party, Kilamuwaye has done the right thing by formally notifying the relevant authorities. That shows his integrity and respect for party discipline,” Aina added.

The NNPP chairman further emphasized that the party bears no ill will toward its former officer, stressing that the door remains open for his possible return in the future.

“We hold no grudges whatsoever. The NNPP in Ogun State and the entire Southwest still consider him one of our own. If he ever decides to return, we will welcome him back with open arms,” Aina said.

Barrister Aina, who has worked closely with Badmus as part of the Ogun State Executive Committee, described their collaboration as productive and cordial.

“It has been a pleasure working with Kilamuwaye as part of the State Excos. He brought innovation, media visibility, and youthful vigor to our structure,” Aina noted.

He reiterated by wishing Badmus success in his future endeavours, saying the NNPP would continue to value his past contributions to the party’s progress.

“We sincerely wish him the very best in whatever direction his political journey takes him next. His legacy of hard work and honesty within our fold will not be forgotten,” the chairman added.

Badmus, who hails from Abeokuta South Local Government, tendered his resignation in two separate letters addressed to both his Ward 3 Chairman and the National Chairman of the NNPP. He cited personal reasons for his decision, while expressing gratitude to the party and its leadership for the opportunity to serve.

His resignation was also copied to key NNPP leaders, including the party’s national leader, Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the NNPP’s 2023 Ogun State governorship candidate.

Political observers say his exit could reshape the dynamics of the NNPP in Ogun and across the Southwest, given his strong influence among the youth and his reputation as one of the party’s most visible spokespersons in the region.
