Mathew Nduba, a Kenyan Chef

Africa, a continent renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and abundant natural resources, remains paradoxically plagued by economic struggles and social challenges. Mathew Nduba, a celebrated Kenyan chef, has sparked a global conversation by shedding light on Africa’s untapped potential, Western exploitation, and the urgent need for government intervention.

In a bold critique, Nduba highlights Africa’s unique offerings, from Nairobi’s one-of-a-kind urban game park to the Democratic Republic of Congo’s vast mineral wealth, while lamenting the continent’s persistent struggles with unemployment and a rising cost of living.

Speaking passionately, Nduba emphasized that Africa’s glory extends beyond its entertainment industries. “People from other continents visit Africa to witness the unique natural endowments that cannot be found elsewhere,” he remarked.

He also noted Nairobi’s extraordinary distinction: “Nairobi is the only city in the world that has a game park.”

Kenya’s capital city is home to Nairobi National Park, a vast game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and hosting giraffes, zebras, and lions. Adjacent to the park lies a renowned elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Beyond its urban wonders, Nairobi also serves as a gateway for safari trips to other parts of Kenya.

Nduba went further to state that Africa is the richest continent in natural resources, boasting all types of minerals. “This is why the superpowers in the West fuel wars in Africa, especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The DRC is the richest country in the world in terms of natural mineral resources—gold, copper, uranium, and coal,” he said.

However, he pointed out that despite this wealth, Africa continues to grapple with unemployment and the high cost of living. Nduba advocated for government support for the growing entertainment industries, such as music and filmmaking, which he believes can provide meaningful engagement for youths and generate additional revenue for governments.
