Aisha Lawal

Aisha Lawal Oladunni, a prominent figure in Nollywood, has risen from a promising actress to a celebrated name in the Yoruba film industry. A talented actor, scriptwriter, and filmmaker, Lawal has consistently demonstrated her versatility and creativity, earning numerous accolades throughout her career.

Her journey into the movie industry began under the mentorship of ace Nollywood actor and director Femi Adebayo, through his theater training school, J-15 School of Performing Arts. This foundation set the stage for her impressive career.

Lawal made her acting debut in 2008 with a role in the movie Adun Madeke. By 2011, she had produced her first film, Amin Agbara (Sign of Power), showcasing her skills behind the camera. However, it was her role in the movie Irugbin that catapulted her into the limelight, earning her widespread recognition and over 20 awards.

Over the years, Aisha Lawal has garnered numerous nominations, including Most Promising Actress of the Year (Yoruba) at the 2014 City People Entertainment Awards, Best Actress in a Leading Role (Yoruba) at the 2015 Best of Nollywood Awards, and Best Indigenous Language Movie/TV Series (Yoruba) at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. In 2018, she received nominations for Best Actress of the Year (Yoruba) and Best Supporting Actress of the Year (Yoruba) at the City People Movie Awards.

With a solid foundation, exceptional talent, and a passion for storytelling, Aisha Lawal continues to be a shining star in Nollywood, inspiring aspiring actors and filmmakers.
