Assistant Police Commissioner Daniel Amah, renowned for his integrity within the Nigerian Police Force, embraced Islam on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Kano Emir’s Palace. The former Divisional Police Officer of Bompai Division in Kano State, who gained national recognition for rejecting a $200,000 bribe in 2022, was welcomed into the Islamic faith by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The Merit Newspaper gathered this information based on a viral video of the ceremony. During the event, Emir Sanusi bestowed upon him the Islamic name “Muhammadu Sanusi” and encouraged him to pursue Islamic knowledge diligently. The Emir emphasized the importance of observing the five daily prayers, obligatory fasting, pilgrimage, and Zakat. He also advised Amah to maintain his commendable character and honor his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs, highlighting that obedience to parents is obligatory for Muslims as long as it does not contradict Islamic teachings.

Emir Sanusi expressed joy over Amah’s decision and prayed for his guidance and success in his new spiritual journey, expressing hopes that he would become one of the exemplary Muslims worldwide.

It would be recalled that Daniel Amah, born on July 7, 1981, in Fobur, Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, enlisted in the Nigerian Police Force as a Cadet Inspector on August 15, 2002. He rose to prominence in April 2022 when he rejected a substantial bribe from armed robbery suspects involved in a theft of over ₦320 million. His unwavering commitment to integrity led to his promotion to Assistant Commissioner of Police and earned him national accolades, including a Public Service Integrity Award in 2022.

Amah’s decision to embrace Islam marks a significant personal milestone, reflecting both his openness to spiritual growth and his commitment to ethical principles. His exemplary service continues to inspire many within and beyond the police force.
