As Muslims worldwide commence the holy month of Ramadan, Christian leaders and organizations have extended messages of goodwill, emphasizing interfaith harmony, unity, and mutual respect.

The World Council of Churches (WCC), on February 24, 2025, conveyed greetings to the Muslim community, recognizing Ramadan as a period of deep devotion, reflection, and generosity. The council highlighted the shared values of fasting and prayer between Christians and Muslims and expressed hope for strengthened bonds during this sacred time.

In Germany, Kirsten Fehrs, chairperson of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) Council, described Ramadan as a time of reconciliation and understanding. She noted that the practice of breaking fast together fosters a more relaxed social climate and helps bridge religious divides.

Christian organizations are also engaging in outreach efforts. Operation Mobilisation (OM) launched the “30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World” initiative, encouraging Christians to pray for and interact with their Muslim neighbors. The campaign aims to promote peaceful coexistence and deeper understanding between faith communities.

In Nigeria, a country with a significant Muslim and Christian population, religious leaders have called for unity during Ramadan. The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) urged wealthy Muslims to support the less privileged, particularly in light of economic challenges. Similarly, Christian leaders have encouraged collective prayers for the nation’s peace and prosperity.

These interfaith messages and initiatives highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships between religious communities and promote global peace and cooperation.
