Epe, Lagos State — Jubilant scenes unfolded across Epe Division as students and stakeholders gathered to witness the inauguration of a new national leadership for the Federation of Epe Division Students Association (FEDSA), marking a renewed chapter of unity, representation and student-focused advocacy.

The ceremony, which attracted delegates from various institutions and alumni groups within Epe Division, formally ushered in Comrade Asorobi Kazeem Damilare as National President following a keenly contested election held on January 4, 2026. Asorobi emerged victorious with six votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bakre Isreal Boluwatife, who secured four votes in an exercise conducted by the FEDSA National Independent Electoral Commission.

His inauguration was greeted with sustained applause, reflecting widespread optimism among students who described the process as transparent, peaceful and credible—an outcome many believe strengthens democratic culture within the association.

In a historic first, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Rukayat was also sworn in as the National Speaker, completing the core leadership structure of the national body and signalling FEDSA’s resolve to deepen internal checks, balance and effective student representation.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, President Asorobi expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging an administration anchored on inclusiveness, accountability and purposeful engagement.

“This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every student in Epe Division. Our focus will be on unity, welfare-driven programmes and constructive dialogue with relevant authorities to ensure students’ voices are heard,” he said.

Other members of the newly inaugurated National Executive Council include Onoshokun Monsurudeen Abayomi (Vice President), Ariyo Rhoda Opeyemi (General Secretary), Shittu Habeeb Olumuyiwa (Financial Secretary), Bisiriyu Hassan Taiwo (Public Relations Officer), Ligali Mariam Tejumola (Treasurer), Oresanwo Moridiyat Modupe (Welfare Director), Shabi Maryam Ajoke (Social Director), Ogunbiyi Hafsoh Yewande (Legal Director), Bashorun Hameed (Assistant General Secretary) and Olateju Abdullah (Sports Director).

Stakeholders at the event, including former student leaders and community representatives, urged the new executives to prioritise academic welfare, leadership development and community service, noting that FEDSA remains a critical platform for grooming future leaders from the division.

The inauguration, observers say, signals a fresh dawn for FEDSA National, with heightened expectations that the new leadership will translate campaign promises into impactful initiatives that resonate beyond the student community and contribute positively to Epe Division’s socio-educational development.
