President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday received the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in a meeting that underscores the continued engagement between the Federal Government and traditional institutions.
Although details of the closed-door meeting were not made public at the time of filing this report, the visit is seen as part of ongoing consultations between national leadership and prominent traditional rulers on issues of governance, unity, and development.
President Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and long-time political figure, has consistently emphasized the role of traditional rulers in fostering peace, grassroots mobilization, and national cohesion. Since assuming office, he has held similar meetings with monarchs across the country as part of his broader consultative approach to leadership.
Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in 2024, bringing with him decades of political experience and public service. His emergence as Olubadan marked a historic moment, blending modern political insight with centuries-old traditional authority in Ibadan, one of Nigeria’s largest and most influential ancient cities.
