President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has been honoured with a traditional chieftaincy title by the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council during his one-day working visit to the state on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The president was conferred with the title “Dike Si Mba Anambra,” meaning “Mighty Warrior from Another Land,” in a colourful ceremony held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital.

The traditional title was bestowed upon him by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka III, Ogalagidi of Obosi. According to the monarch, the conferment was a unanimous decision of traditional rulers representing the 179 communities across the state.

Igwe Iweka stated that the honour was in recognition of President Tinubu’s developmental strides, especially the completion of landmark projects such as the Second Niger Bridge, and his efforts toward national unity and infrastructure development.

The event, attended by prominent dignitaries and traditional rulers, highlighted the significance of traditional institutions in nation-building and support for federal leadership.

Also confirming the conferment, Mr. Sunday Dare, CON, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, described the honour as a reflection of the respect and appreciation the people of the South East have for President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, development, and prosperity across all regions of Nigeria.
