LAGOS — The Muslim community in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the passing of one of its prominent Islamic scholars, Sheikh Ameer Qamarudeen Ajala, on Thursday, January 23, 2025. He will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites tomorrow, Friday, January 24, 2025.

Sheikh Qamarudeen Ajala, a revered figure among Muslims, was widely known for his tireless efforts in propagating Islam across Lagos Island. He played a pivotal role in converting many idol worshippers in the area to Islam through his wisdom, eloquence, and sound teachings.

Tributes have poured in from across the country, especially from prominent Islamic scholars. Sheikh Hamad Labeeb, a renowned Islamic scholar from Ilorin, Kwara State, took to his Facebook page to express his grief and offer prayers:
“Inna Lillah Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un. It’s a great loss to the Muslim Ummah as we have lost Sheikh Ameer Qamarudeen Ajala. May Almighty Allah grant him Al-Janah Firdaus and make him among the righteous.”

Similarly, Sheikh Sulaimon Kegbegbe, an Islamic scholar from Ilorin who teaches Arabic and Islamic studies in Ibadan, Oyo State, also shared his condolences on social media, saying:
“May Allah forgive Sheikh Ameer Qamarudeen Ajala’s shortcomings, have mercy on him, and grant him Jannah. May Allah comfort his loved ones.”

Sheikh Ajala’s contributions to the growth of Islam, particularly in Lagos Island, have left an indelible mark on the Muslim community. His legacy of preaching peace and spreading the teachings of Islam will be remembered for generations.

Muslims across Nigeria, especially those in the Southwest region, have expressed their sorrow and extended condolences through various platforms. Many described his death as a significant loss to the Islamic community.

Sheikh Ajala’s funeral prayers will take place at his residence on Lagos Island before his interment tomorrow. The Muslim Ummah is urged to continue praying for his soul and to honor his memory by upholding the values he propagated during his lifetime.

May Allah grant him eternal rest and comfort his family and followers.
