The leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, on Monday, March 2, 2026, joined political stakeholders, party loyalists, and community leaders to celebrate the birthday of a prominent PDP chieftain, Busari Olayemi, describing him as “a pillar of progressive politics and grassroots development in Oyo State.”

The birthday celebration, attended by party leaders and political associates, turned into a moment of reflection on Olayemi’s long-standing contributions to governance, public service, and party unity across Oyo State.

Olayemi’s political career spans several strategic leadership positions, including his service as a former Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2003 and 2007, Chairman of Egbeda Local Government in 2007, Member of the House of Representatives representing his constituency from 2011 to 2015, Liaison Officer in Abuja from 2019 to 2023, and currently serving as Special Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Inter-Party Matters.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ajadi praised the celebrant’s enduring commitment to democratic ideals and inclusive governance.

“Honourable Busari Olayemi represents consistency, loyalty, and service to the people. His political journey reflects dedication to grassroots empowerment and the strengthening of democratic institutions. Today, we celebrate not just his birthday but a life devoted to public service and party development,” Ajadi said.

The PDP governorship hopeful noted that Olayemi’s experience across legislative, executive, and administrative offices has made him a stabilizing force within the party.

“Leaders like Hon. Olayemi are rare. He has remained accessible to the people, committed to peace among political actors, and focused on policies that improve lives. Oyo State needs more leaders with such institutional knowledge and humility,” Ajadi added.

The event attracted several notable political figures, including the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, who also serves as Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state and Deputy National Chairman of the body.

Also present was the Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government, Temitope Glorious, alongside other party stalwarts and supporters who described Olayemi as a bridge-builder and seasoned administrator.

In his remarks, Ajadi emphasized the importance of honouring experienced leaders whose contributions continue to shape political stability and governance in Oyo State.

“Our party thrives because of men and women who sacrificed personal comfort to build strong democratic structures. Hon. Busari Olayemi belongs to that generation of leaders whose mentorship continues to inspire younger politicians,” he stated.

Observers at the gathering noted that the celebration further underscored growing unity within the PDP in Oyo State ahead of future political engagements, as party leaders reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation, development-driven politics, and people-oriented leadership.

The event attracted goodwill messages and prayers for continued good health, alongside renewed calls for greater collaboration among party leaders to advance development and democratic consolidation in Oyo State.
