Nigerian Afro-soul sensation Chike has stirred conversations across social media following the release of his emotional new single, “Pity My Soul,” at a time when online discussions surrounding his alleged relationship with Sandra Onyenucheya, the estranged wife of media personality Frank Edoho, continue to trend.

The song, released on Tuesday, sees Chike teaming up with fellow music act Syemca in what many listeners have described as a deeply reflective and emotionally vulnerable record. The timing of the release has further intensified public speculation, with some fans interpreting the track as a subtle response to the ongoing controversy.

Known for his soulful storytelling and emotionally charged lyrics, Chike appears to channel pain, confusion and emotional exhaustion into the new track, delivering a calm but haunting vocal performance that has already begun gaining traction online.

The Merit Newspaper reports that in one of the song’s striking lines, the singer emotionally pleads, “Pity my soul,” while another reflective verse suggests a battle with emotional burden and public judgment. Though Chike has not directly addressed the rumours surrounding his alleged affair, many music lovers believe the song’s tone mirrors the emotional atmosphere surrounding the singer in recent days.

Music observers say the release continues Chike’s reputation for transforming personal emotions into relatable art. Social media users have also pointed to cryptic promotional posts shared ahead of the release, with some interpreting them as hints at his current emotional state.

The song blends soft R&B melodies with Afro-soul elements, further showcasing the signature vocal depth that has made Chike one of Nigeria’s most respected contemporary singers. Industry watchers believe “Pity My Soul” may quickly become one of the most discussed Nigerian songs of the week, not only because of its musical quality but also due to the controversy surrounding its release.

Chike, whose real name is Chike Osebuka, rose to prominence after appearing on reality music shows before establishing himself as one of Nigeria’s leading vocalists with hit projects such as Boo of the Booless and The Brother’s Keeper.
