The city of Ilorin, Kwara State, was agog with celebrations as Barrister Sahdalah Faruk Onikijipa, son of the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa, tied the knot with Princess Aishat Sulu-Gambari, the daughter of Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the 11th Emir of Ilorin.

The royal wedding, which spanned several days, was a blend of tradition, culture, and elegance, attracting dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond. The union not only symbolizes love but also strengthens the historic ties between two prominent families in the Ilorin Emirate.

Barrister Sahdalah Faruk Onikijipa, a legal practitioner and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, is widely admired for his contributions to the legal profession. His bride, Princess Aishat Sulu-Gambari, is a respected member of the Ilorin royal family and a symbol of the emirate’s rich heritage.

The festivities commenced with traditional ceremonies and culminated in a grand reception attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, and well-wishers. Guests celebrated the couple with music, prayers, and goodwill messages, highlighting the importance of the marriage as a unifying force within the community.

In his remarks, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, expressed his gratitude to attendees for honoring his family and prayed for the couple’s success and happiness. Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa also offered prayers for the couple, emphasizing the spiritual significance of marriage in Islam.

The wedding serves as a reminder of the enduring cultural values and traditions of Ilorin, which continue to thrive in modern times.

This royal union has been described as a historic milestone, cementing alliances within the Ilorin Emirate and showcasing the richness of its cultural heritage.
