K1 and His Mother

As dignitaries, family members, and fans gather in Ijebu Ode today, Friday, January 24, 2025, for the 7-day Firdaus prayer for the late mother of Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1), expectations go beyond the solemn Islamic rites. Lovers of Fuji music see the event as an opportunity to address longstanding issues within the Fuji music industry and foster unity among its leading figures.

The Islamic prayer session, which will be graced by prominent Islamic scholars, Sheikhs, and Imams, is expected to not only honor the memory of K1’s late mother but also serve as a platform to mend strained relationships among Fuji artistes. Below are some of the key expectations from fans and stakeholders in the Fuji community:

1. Mediating the Rift Between Taye Currency and Pasuma
Fans are hopeful that K1 will use this occasion to mediate and settle the feud between Taye Currency and his former mentor, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, popularly known as Oganla Fuji. The longstanding discord between the two has been a source of concern for fans of the genre.

2. Calling Taye Currency and Tiri Leather to Order
Observers believe that Pasuma could seize this opportunity to address the perceived discord between Taye Currency and another Fuji artiste, Tiri Leather, urging both parties to embrace peace and unity.

3. Resolving the K1 and Abass Akande Feud
Another pressing issue fans expect to be addressed is the disagreement between Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere and K1. It is widely anticipated that Fuji legend Alhaji Kollington Ayinla will mediate and broker peace between the two iconic figures, fostering a harmonious relationship within the Fuji music community.

4. K1’s Acknowledgment of Kollington Ayinla’s Leadership
Some Fuji enthusiasts hope to see K1 take steps toward reconciliation with Alhaji Kollington Ayinla. There have been calls for K1 to publicly acknowledge Kollington Ayinla as the pioneer and number-one figure in the Fuji music industry, despite K1’s own title as the King of Fuji.

5. Prayers for Saheed Osupa and Pasuma
With the longstanding rivalry between King Dr. Saheed Osupa and Pasuma Wonder now resolved, attendees are hopeful that the invited Islamic scholars will pray for continued peace and understanding between the two artistes, who have become a symbol of reconciliation in the industry.

6. Special Prayers for K1’s Leadership Role in the Fuji Industry
The Islamic scholars present are also expected to offer special prayers for K1, seeking divine wisdom and guidance for him to lead both veteran and emerging Fuji artistes toward unity and success. Fans believe such prayers could strengthen K1’s role as a mentor and peacemaker in the industry.

As the Firdaus prayer unfolds, the Fuji community will not only remember K1’s mother but also look forward to a renewed spirit of camaraderie and progress in the genre. All eyes will be on K1 and the gathered artistes to see whether this solemn occasion can pave the way for a more united Fuji music industry.
