The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Surulere Local Government Area has taken the lead among all Lagos State local government party structures by inaugurating its Standing Committees and Directorates in preparation for the 2025 Local Government Elections.

Held at the Surulere Local Government Secretariat over the weekend, the event was not just a formal inauguration but a strong political statement of unity, strategy, and grassroots mobilization, placing the chapter far ahead in terms of early political organization and campaign readiness.

Presided over by the APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Balogun, who also assumes the role of Director General of the SYM/DAM Campaign Council, the session attracted a high-powered delegation of political stakeholders, aspirants, and party leaders across the local government.

Notable among the dignitaries were:

Hon. Sulaimon Yusuf Bamidele (SYM) – incumbent Chairman seeking re-election

Hon. Prince Muiz Adewale Dosunmu

Hon. Afeez Odunewu

Mrs. Kemi Thomas

Hon. Ibrahim Alli-Balogun

Mr. Martins Megbon

Mr. Muyideen Hamzat

Mr. Sam George

And all councillorship aspirants under the APC banner.

The campaign, which has now officially kicked off under the banner of SYM/DAM 2025, received a wave of endorsements and public goodwill. Speakers at the event extolled SYM’s leadership track record, describing him as a transformational grassroots leader whose achievements have created a lasting footprint in Surulere’s development narrative.

Party members cited SYM’s dedication to youth empowerment, infrastructural renewal, and continuity of people-centered policies as foundational strengths, particularly those policies originally launched under the leadership of Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Femi Gbajabiamila, former Speaker of the 9th National Assembly and current Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“These are not just projects; they are legacies. SYM has built on the foundation of Gbajabiamila’s vision and expanded it in meaningful ways that directly impact the people of Surulere,” said Hon. Ibrahim Alli-Balogun during his goodwill message.

The inauguration also marked the beginning of intensive grassroots mobilization. Committees were charged with responsibility for campaign coordination, media and publicity, logistics, youth and women engagement, election security, and policy communication—ensuring every sector of Surulere’s demography is reached and involved.

In his brief remarks, Hon. Sheriff Balogun emphasized, “Surulere APC is not just working for victory—we are working to sustain excellence, grow inclusivity, and deliver a stronger future. We are ahead of others not by chance but by purpose.”

Observers say the unity and organizational capacity demonstrated by APC Surulere at this early stage is a model for other local governments to emulate, particularly as the countdown to the 2025 elections intensifies.

As the political tempo rises across Lagos, Surulere’s momentum appears unwavering. The coordinated enthusiasm displayed by stakeholders, aspirants, and ordinary party members signals a readiness not just for elections—but for continued development leadership.
