Former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has officially commenced a grassroots mobilisation campaign aimed at drawing support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the South-West region of Nigeria.

The political campaign kicked off on Thursday, July 10, in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, where Aregbesola met with party faithful, community leaders, and supporters at a strategic political meeting aimed at strengthening the party’s base in the region.

Speaking at the event, Aregbesola emphasised the need for a new political direction rooted in transparency, youth inclusion, and regional development. He called on citizens across Yorubaland to embrace the ADC as a credible alternative that can deliver responsive governance and secure the future of the people.

“We are building a movement that speaks to the aspirations of our people. The ADC is not just a party—it is a platform for a true Yoruba renaissance and national development,” he said.

Party officials present at the meeting expressed optimism about the former governor’s ability to attract support, given his political influence and experience.

The event in Akure marks the beginning of a series of consultations and mobilisation efforts across other states in the South-West, as Aregbesola leads the charge for what could reshape the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
