Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake has sparked controversy with his latest single, Military Regime, where he addresses his critics with bold and unapologetic lyrics.
In a snippet of the track that has gone viral, Asake dismisses his detractors, stating, “They have their mouth, so they should keep talking. As long as it doesn’t affect my bank account, I don’t care. I’m the one they’re talking about, but they can’t catch up—they’ll keep running.”
The Sungba crooner, known for his unique fusion of Fuji and Amapiano sounds, further boasts about his financial success, making it clear that, despite his struggles with speaking English, wealth sets him apart. “I find it difficult to speak English, but for my set… Who get money pass me? Nobody!” he declares in the song.
