Fuji music enthusiasts and critics of Nigerian music have taken to social media to urge a reconciliation between Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, popularly known as Oganla Fuji, and his longtime associate in Fuji music, Taye Currency. The growing rift between the two has sparked concern among Fuji lovers, who are now calling for intervention from prominent figures in the industry.

Many critics expressed disappointment that the King of Fuji, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 the Ultimate, has not been able to mediate a truce. “As the King of Fuji, it is K1’s responsibility to foster unity in the genre,” a fan lamented online. Another critic added, “The unity of Fuji music depends on the leaders, and K1 must step in to protect the legacy of this beautiful genre.”

The upcoming meeting of Fuji artistes convened by General Kollington Ayinla on January 14, 2025, at LTV8 is being viewed as an opportunity to address divisions within the Fuji music community. Fans are hopeful that the veteran musician will prioritize resolving the rift between Pasuma and Taye Currency. “General Kollington Ayinla has the respect of all Fuji musicians, and this meeting is the perfect platform to resolve these disputes,” a Fuji enthusiast commented.

Meanwhile, members of the Pasuma Fans Club have expressed optimism after Taye Currency’s recent comments at a show in Abule Egba. During the performance, Taye Currency declared his continued loyalty to Pasuma, dispelling rumors of hostility. “I am not fighting with Oganla. This online rift is caused by the fans,” he stated, in what many perceived as an olive branch.

However, some fans believe Taye Currency should take further steps to mend the relationship. “It’s not enough to make statements at shows,” a fan said. “Taye should visit Oganla at his home in Omole as K1 instructed him to do earlier when the rumors of a rift started.”

The feud has divided Fuji music fans, with some taking sides while others call for unity. “Fuji music thrives on collaboration and brotherhood,” said a prominent Fuji critic. “This conflict only hurts the genre and its loyal fans. We need peace.”

As the January 14 meeting approaches, all eyes are on the Fuji legends to set aside differences and work toward unity in the genre that has brought joy to millions of Nigerians. Fans remain hopeful that peace will prevail, ensuring that Fuji music continues to flourish.
