ABUJA — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was visibly elated as she joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the Super Falcons’ historic victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

In photos shared from the State House on Saturday night, the First Lady watched the final match with excitement and pride as the Falcons lifted the coveted trophy after a dramatic comeback against Morocco. Her joyful expressions captured the national pride and unity that followed the team’s 3-2 victory.

“This victory is not just a win for Nigerian football, but a powerful symbol of resilience, courage, and hope for our young women across the country,” she said in a statement issued shortly after the match.

The First Lady also praised the players, coaching crew, and the Nigeria Football Federation for their commitment and patriotism, encouraging the team to continue making the nation proud on the global stage.

The Super Falcons’ triumph marks their 10th WAFCON title, reinforcing Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
