President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reached out to the Mayegun of Yorubaland, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as KWAM 1), to express his condolences following the passing of the Fuji maestro’s mother, Alhaja Halima Shadiya Anifowoshe.

Alhaja Anifowoshe, who passed away in the early hours of Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the age of 105, was described as a pillar of strength and an inspiration to her family and community.

In a heartfelt phone call that has since gone viral on social media, President Tinubu consoled the grieving musician with comforting Yoruba words. The president said, “Emi a gun o. Wa’pepe. Olorun O’nifiya je o. Iya o’nije Omo oku orun o. God bless you.”

The Mayegun of Yorubaland, visibly touched by the president’s words, responded graciously, expressing his gratitude for the support and love shown during this difficult time.

The viral nature of the exchange has sparked an outpouring of support from Nigerians, particularly fans of Fuji music, who have lauded the president’s gesture of solidarity and cultural connection.

Alhaja Halima Shadiya Anifowoshe’s passing marks the end of an era, but her legacy will undoubtedly live on through her children, grandchildren, and the numerous lives she impacted during her long and fulfilling life.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
