Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has declared her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, urging other presidential hopefuls such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to step aside in the spirit of rotational leadership.

Speaking at a public event, Patience Jonathan emphasized the importance of political stability and equity, stating, “I believe in one president. I believe in turn-by-turn. When it’s your turn, I will support you. When it’s not your turn, step back—so that the country can move forward.”

The former First Lady also addressed rumors about her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, making a political comeback. She clarified that he would not be running against President Tinubu in the 2027 elections, putting speculation to rest.

Reaffirming her long-standing relationship with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Patience Jonathan said their friendship dates back to when their husbands served as deputy governors and governors. She pledged to campaign for Remi Tinubu, describing her as a sister and close confidante.

Her remarks appear to reinforce growing calls within political circles for continuity and respect for informal power-sharing arrangements in Nigeria’s democracy.
