Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated another ₦10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, Oluyoro, Ibadan, Oyo State, in further support of nursing education and healthcare development in Nigeria.
Obi made the donation during a recent visit to the institution, where he interacted with the management, students and staff and reiterated the importance of investing in the education and training of healthcare professionals.
According to Obi, the latest donation is in keeping with his earlier commitment to continually support the institution and strengthen its capacity to train competent nurses and other healthcare professionals.
He stressed that education remains one of the strongest foundations for national development, while describing investment in healthcare education as essential to improving healthcare delivery and building a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria.
Obi also urged the students of the institution to remain committed to their studies and pursue excellence in their chosen profession.

He noted that nurses play a critical role in the healthcare system and encouraged the students to uphold professionalism, compassion and dedication as they prepare to serve communities in Nigeria and beyond.
The former governor’s latest gesture comes after he donated ₦10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, Oluyoro, in November 2025, during an earlier visit to the institution. That donation was intended to support the improvement of facilities and provide better learning resources for students.
The latest donation therefore brings Obi’s reported contributions to the institution to ₦20 million across the two visits.
The Merit Newspaper reports that Obi has consistently advocated greater investment in education and healthcare, arguing that stronger human-capital development and a better-equipped health sector are vital to Nigeria’s long-term development.
His latest intervention is expected to further support the institution’s efforts to provide quality training for future nurses and healthcare professionals.
