The Executive Chairman of IRU/Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Chairman of IRU/VI, Alhaji Muniru Kokoroowo.

In a statement issued by the council’s media team, Princess Adu described the late Kokoroowo as “a dedicated party loyalist and a committed community leader whose presence and impact will be sorely missed.”

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we shall return). It is heartbreaking to hear the news of Alhaji Kokoroowo’s passing. May Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave, and admit him into Al-Jannat Firdaus,” the statement quoted Princess Adu as saying.

The chairman extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the APC leadership, and the entire IRU/Victoria Island community. “My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and all relatives. May Allah grant them the strength and patience to bear this irreplaceable loss and bless them with long life and good health,” she added.

Alhaji Kokoroowo, until his death, served as the Local Government Chairman of the APC in IRU/VI. He was widely regarded as a bridge-builder who contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the party in the council area.

The Islamic funeral rites were observed according to tradition, with clerics offering prayers for the repose of his soul and urging the faithful to emulate his dedication and humility.

As condolences continue to pour in from across political and religious circles, many remember him for his simplicity, accessibility, and unwavering commitment to party unity.

“Alhaji Muniru Kokoroowo was not only a politician but a man of the people. His leadership left a footprint in our party’s progress in this locality,” said one APC stakeholder who attended the burial prayer.

The IRU/VI LCDA has declared a mourning period in honor of the late chairman, with flags flying at half-mast at the council secretariat.
