The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has officially announced the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan, marking the beginning of the holy month.
According to the Sultan, the crescent was sighted in multiple locations across Nigeria on Friday, February 28, 2025. As a result, fasting for Ramadan 1446 AH will commence on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The announcement followed the verification of reports from various moon sighting committees across the country.
In his nationwide broadcast scheduled for 8 PM tonight, His Eminence is expected to deliver a message of unity, faith, and spiritual renewal as Muslims embark on the sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
