Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the deployment of Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

With a career spanning over 25 years in the Lagos State Public Service, Dokunmu-Adegbite brings a wealth of experience in strategic leadership and administrative excellence to her new role. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Audit Service Commission.

Born on December 7, 1972, to Mr. Francis and Alhaja Adiat Onikoyi-Deckon in Lagos Island, Dokunmu-Adegbite began her education at Fountain Nursery & Primary School, Surulere. She proceeded to the Federal Government Girls’ College, Akure, before earning a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, in 1995. Her academic credentials also include a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos (2004) and another in International Human Resource Management from Rome Business School, Lagos, affiliated with Valencia University, Italy, in 2024.

Dokunmu-Adegbite’s journey in public service began on August 27, 1999, when she was appointed as an Administrative Officer I (Grade Level 09). Over the years, she has held key positions across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), earning recognition for her dedication and administrative acumen.

Her professional affiliations include fellowship with the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Association of Human Resource Practitioners of Nigeria (AHR), Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN), and the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals Nigeria (CGPN). She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (Delaware, USA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

A distinguished leader, Dokunmu-Adegbite previously served as the President of the Policy, Strategy & Leadership Course (Set 41) at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

Her appointment is expected to bring further efficiency and innovation to the administration of basic and secondary education in Lagos State.

She is happily married and blessed with children.
