The Smart Boys Movement (SBM) on Sunday, September 27, 2026, held its National Executive Council (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at Royal Edible Place, Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo State, bringing together key leaders of the organisation from different levels and regions.
The meeting, which focused on strengthening the structure and effectiveness of the movement, provided an opportunity for the national and state executives to review ongoing activities, discuss grassroots mobilisation and chart a clearer direction for the organisation ahead of its forthcoming programmes.
The meeting was attended by the National Executive Director, Honourable Funso Jide Adekunle, popularly known as Honourable Fushi; the National Director for Youth Mobilisation and Election Monitoring, Honourable Olaoluwa Akinwande Akinsola; and the South-West Executive Director, Honourable Adesire Adenekan.

Also present were the South-West Director for Youth Mobilisation and Election Monitoring, Honourable Praise Oyedeji; Lagos State Executive Director, Honourable Maleek Babatunde Sannie; and Oyo State Executive Director, Comrade Ayoade Waheed Lawal.
Other participants included Princess Ololade Nike Balogun, Oyo State Director for Women Mobilisation; Comrade Adekunle Adedolapo, Oyo Central Senatorial Coordinator; Comrade Rasheed Adebayo, Oyo South Senatorial Coordinator; and Comrade Okanlawon Akeem Olawale, Coordinator for Afijio/Atiba/Oyo West/Oyo East Federal Constituency.

Speaking on the significance of the meeting, the National Executive Director, Honourable Funso Jide Adekunle, said the gathering was designed to strengthen internal coordination, improve grassroots engagement and ensure that all levels of the movement work towards common objectives.
“This meeting is about strengthening our structure, improving coordination and taking the Smart Boys Movement closer to the people,” Adekunle said.
He stressed the importance of youth participation, women mobilisation and effective grassroots organisation, noting that the movement would continue to provide opportunities for its members to contribute meaningfully to its programmes and activities.

According to him, the SBM leadership recognises that a strong organisation requires effective coordination from the national level down to states, senatorial districts, federal constituencies and other grassroots structures.
“Our strength lies in our people and our structure. We must continue to mobilise, organise and work together as one movement,” he said.
The National Executive Director also called on members and coordinators to remain committed to the objectives of the movement, urging them to maintain discipline, teamwork and effective communication in carrying out their respective responsibilities.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of youth mobilisation and election monitoring, with the relevant leadership expected to continue developing strategies for greater youth engagement and effective participation in democratic processes.
The presence of officials from the South-West, Lagos and Oyo State structures also underscored the movement’s expanding organisational framework and the need for stronger collaboration among its various arms.
Adekunle expressed confidence in the commitment of the executives and coordinators, saying the leadership would continue to build a more coordinated and people-oriented movement.
“We have a responsibility to build a movement that is organised, inclusive and responsive to the people. That responsibility begins with every leader and coordinator,” he added.
The meeting reinforced the SBM’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation, organisational discipline, teamwork and the continuous strengthening of its structures across different levels.
The Smart Boys Movement leadership is expected to continue with further engagements and activities aimed at consolidating the organisation’s presence and improving coordination among its national, regional, state and grassroots structures.
