Popular Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has reportedly died at the age of 40, according to reports from several Nigerian media outlets on Tuesday.

The news of his death spread across social media and entertainment circles, with colleagues in the Nigerian film industry expressing shock over the development. As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by his family.

Sources said the actor had been absent from public events in recent months, fueling speculation that he had been battling an undisclosed illness before his death.

Alexx Ekubo was widely known for his roles in several Nollywood films and television productions, earning a strong fan base for his performances and on-screen charisma.

The Merit Newspaper reports that Ekubo rose to prominence after finishing as first runner-up in the Mr. Nigeria contest in 2010 and later became one of the familiar faces in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
