Party Denounces Circulating Congress Schedule as Fake, Urges Members to Disregard It

By Ibrahim Kegbegbe | Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from a document circulating across social media platforms, purported to be the “2025 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses and Related Activities,” describing it as fake and unauthorized.

In a statement released on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, CON, clarified that the APC had not issued any official timetable for congresses, warning members and the public to ignore the document in circulation.

“Our great Party wishes to clarify that the purported schedule of activities for congresses was neither made nor authorized by the Party, and should be disregarded as fake news,” Morka stated.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the APC spokesman emphasized that the party remains guided by its constitution and internal democratic processes, assuring that any future timetable for congresses or conventions would be duly approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) before public release through official channels.

Morka added that the false timetable appeared to be the handiwork of mischief-makers attempting to sow confusion and distrust within the ruling party ahead of its internal political calendar.

“We urge our members and stakeholders nationwide to remain calm, focused, and not to be distracted by fake information designed to destabilize the party’s unity,” he advised.

The clarification comes amid rising anticipation within the APC over when preparations will officially begin for the 2027 general elections, especially as internal groups and political blocs continue to strategize ahead of future contests.

Political observers have noted that the appearance of such unauthorized documents often heightens speculation about internal power dynamics and leadership succession within Nigeria’s ruling party.

The APC, however, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, discipline, and due process in all its organizational activities.
