Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday swore in 17 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and other senior officials, urging them to see their elevation as a call to higher service and a responsibility to uphold merit, professionalism, and integrity in the public service.

The governor gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

Makinde emphasised that the appointments emerged from a transparent and merit-based process designed to strengthen the state’s civil service and ensure fairness and representation across relevant sectors.

Congratulating the newly appointed officials, the governor reminded them that their new positions require dedication to public interest above personal considerations.

“This appointment is a call to higher service based on merit,” Makinde said. “Our administration has deliberately put a structure in place to ensure that the process is merit-based and representative.”

He further urged the new permanent secretaries to discharge their duties with diligence and professionalism.

“I want to urge you to carry out your responsibilities diligently and ensure that your personal interests do not conflict with your official conduct,” the governor added.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the mainstream civil service include Engr. Rhaheemat Abisola Adabanija, Mr Oluseye Adegbola Adeyemo, Mr Muyiwa Sunday Olagoke, Mr Adekunle Victor Adesola, Mr Waidi Olasunbo Oyelowo, Mr Sunday Akinwale Moradeyo, Mrs Oluyinka Mosunmola Shotonwa-Roagees and Mrs Abidemi Christianah Adejumo.

Also sworn in was Mr Oluwatosin Adekunle Aderibigbe as Inspector-General of Education, while Mr Abolade Adesina Olabiyi was appointed to the House of Assembly Service Commission.

The governor also approved the appointment of three Tutors-General—Mrs Salimat Adebola Ayegboyin, Mrs Rachael Folashade Alamu and Mrs Abimbola Abiodun Emmanuel.

In the Local Government sector, Mrs Titilope Lanre Adesina, Mr Jubril Adekola Alaga and Mr Iyiola Layi Olalekan were appointed as Permanent Secretaries.

Similarly, Mr Adedayo Kehinde Popoola was sworn in as Auditor-General for the state.

Makinde noted that strengthening the administrative structure of the state civil service remains critical to sustaining good governance and efficient service delivery to the people of Oyo State.

He expressed confidence that the newly appointed officials would justify the confidence reposed in them by making meaningful contributions to the state’s development.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to institutional reforms and professionalism within the public service, stressing that competence and accountability remain central to the government’s governance philosophy.
