Ibadan — A leading gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the Ogun State Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Alhaja Shakirat Idris-Arowolo, describing her as a principled politician and a motherly figure in public service.

In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, February 11, Ambassador Ajadi lauded Alhaja Idris-Arowolo’s contributions to politics and grassroots mobilisation, particularly her role as the NNPP deputy governorship candidate during the 2023 general election in Ogun State.

Ajadi, who was the NNPP governorship candidate in the state during the election, said Idris-Arowolo distinguished herself through discipline, humility and uncommon commitment to the welfare of the people throughout the intense campaign period.

“Alhaja Shakirat Idris-Arowolo’s unwavering dedication and exemplary service to the people of Ogun State during our political journey have not gone unnoticed,” Ajadi said.

“She played a crucial motherly role, offering guidance, encouragement and stability at a time when political pressure was at its peak.”

Ajadi noted that Idris-Arowolo’s conduct during the campaign earned her respect across party lines, adding that her leadership style helped project the NNPP as a party driven by values, inclusion and people-oriented politics.

“She set an inspiring example for the citizens and electorate of Ogun State by demonstrating that politics can be practiced with decency, compassion and integrity,” Ajadi stated.

“Her commitment to the welfare of the people and her passion for good governance make her a politician worth celebrating, not only on her birthday but at all times.”

Ambassador Ajadi further praised the NNPP chieftain for her continued service to the party as its Ogun State Secretary, describing her as a stabilising force who has remained loyal to democratic ideals and party discipline.

He prayed for her continued good health, wisdom and strength, urging her to sustain her advocacy for inclusive governance and women’s participation in politics.

“As she marks another year today, I pray that Almighty Allah grants her long life, sound health and greater wisdom to continue serving humanity and contributing meaningfully to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria at large,” Ajadi added.

Alhaja Shakirat Idris-Arowolo is widely regarded as one of the prominent female political leaders in Ogun State, having played key roles in party organisation and electoral mobilisation. Her emergence as deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 election was seen by many observers as a bold statement on gender inclusion in state politics.
