The Merit Newspaper reports that the inaugural flight from São Paulo landed in Lagos on Wednesday, 27 August, 2025, with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Safety, Festus Keyamo, and other top government functionaries on board.

Speaking on arrival, Keyamo described the development as “a new dawn for Nigeria’s aviation sector,” noting that the direct link would strengthen trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and diplomatic ties between Africa’s largest economy and South America’s biggest nation.

Industry experts say the direct route will ease travel stress, reduce costs, and open fresh opportunities for businesses and individuals across both regions.
