Nigeria, Brazil Launch Direct Commercial Flights

Nigeria has officially commenced direct commercial flights with Brazil, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations and air connectivity between the two nations.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the inaugural flight from São Paulo landed in Lagos on Wednesday, 27 August, 2025, with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Safety, Festus Keyamo, and other top government functionaries on board.

Speaking on arrival, Keyamo described the development as “a new dawn for Nigeria’s aviation sector,” noting that the direct link would strengthen trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and diplomatic ties between Africa’s largest economy and South America’s biggest nation.

Industry experts say the direct route will ease travel stress, reduce costs, and open fresh opportunities for businesses and individuals across both regions.

The Brazil–Nigeria flight service is expected to operate regularly, providing Nigerians and Brazilians with seamless access between the two continents.
