The Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, has inaugurated a security task force to strengthen the safety of students and schools across Iwo and surrounding communities in Oyo State, following the recent abduction of teachers and students at Community High School Ahoro-Esinle.
The Islamic cleric condemned the abduction, describing it as an inhuman act that calls for urgent and practical action beyond public condemnation. He said the growing insecurity in the country requires collective efforts, stressing that words alone are no longer enough to address threats to lives and education.

According to him, the newly inaugurated task force is part of efforts to support government security agencies in protecting schools and ensuring that students can learn in a safe environment. He added that the initiative would be extended to other parts of Iwo and Oyo State within his capacity to further complement government efforts at tackling insecurity.

The task force, popularly known as Al-Jayshu Islam, has reportedly operated on a voluntary basis since its establishment and has over the years assisted security agencies in maintaining peace and safeguarding communities.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the development comes amid renewed concerns over the safety of schools in parts of Oyo State, as residents and stakeholders continue to call for stronger security measures to prevent further attacks on educational institutions.
