Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), barely 24 hours after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omo-Agege is expected to contest for the Delta Central Senatorial ticket under the NDC platform during the party’s primary election scheduled for Thursday.

The former Delta State governorship candidate reportedly left the APC following disagreements over the party’s senatorial ticket for Delta Central.
The Merit Newspaper reports that sources within the party disclosed that Omo-Agege lost the APC ticket to the incumbent senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ede Dafinone.

Political observers believe the development may further reshape the political landscape in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reports also indicated that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was influential in the emergence of Dafinone as the APC candidate, a development said to have deepened tensions within the party in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Omo-Agege nor the APC leadership in Delta State had issued an official statement regarding the latest political development.
