AbdulRazaq Visits New Ilorin Chief Imam, Promises Jeep, Bus

ILORIN — Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, pledging the support of his administration and promising to provide the cleric with a brand-new Jeep and a bus.

The governor, accompanied by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbe, and other top government officials and statesmen, visited the residence of the Chief Imam in Ilorin, where he formally congratulated the Islamic scholar on his appointment and sought prayers for peace, unity and continued development in the state.

AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and strengthening the relationship between government and faith-based institutions, assuring the new Chief Imam of his full support in the discharge of his spiritual responsibilities.

He announced that the state government would present a brand-new Jeep and a bus to the cleric as part of efforts to support the office of the Chief Imam and facilitate its activities.

The First Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Abdulkadir Oba Sholagberu, Sheikh Sohibul Bayan and other prominent Islamic scholars present at the gathering commended the governor for his continued support for religious leaders and his commitment to fostering peace and unity in the state.

Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani was officially announced as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate on June 10 by Abdulraheem Muritala, Personal Assistant to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

Following the announcement, Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the Emir and described the appointment of the 42-year-old Azhari scholar as a reflection of the emirate’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant and inclusive Muslim community.

“The choice of a young and vibrant Azhari scholar as the new Chief Imam Fulani reflects the commitment of our community, which His Royal Highness symbolises, to continue to mobilise different demographies of the Muslim Ummah for the greater good and development,” the governor had said.

“I ask Allaah to guide and protect the new Chief Imam, perfect His blessings upon him, and give him long life and good health in the service of the Ummah.

I also urge everyone to rally round the new Chief Imam in the overall interest of our community,” he added.
