Sokoto, March 29, 2025 – The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal crescent in Nigeria, signaling the end of Ramadan. Consequently, Sunday, March 30, 2025, has been declared as Eid-el-Fitr.

Muslims across the country will mark the occasion with prayers and celebrations, following a month of fasting and devotion. The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), urged Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan and pray for peace and unity in the nation.
