In a triumphant streak that further cements his place as one of Nollywood’s most versatile actors, Ibrahim Chatta has taken center stage in a series of recent film releases, showcasing his dynamic range and creative depth. From emotionally charged dramas to epic historical tales and supernatural thrillers, Chatta continues to dazzle fans and critics alike.

Leading this wave is Osoronga, a supernatural Yoruba thriller that began streaming on Prime Video on April 4, 2025. The film marks a significant milestone in Chatta’s career—not just as a leading actor, but also as the writer, director, and producer. A RealArt Communications production, Osoronga plunges viewers into the mysterious world of witches and wizards, exploring ancestral powers, fear, and destiny.

“Osoronga is not just a story; it’s a reflection of our deep-rooted beliefs and the supernatural forces that shape our communities,” Chatta said. “Producing it gave me the opportunity to tell the story exactly as it needed to be told.”

The thriller opens with a gripping sequence: a man runs for his life—not because he can, but because he must. With a broken ankle, bruised arms, and bleeding sides, he runs to escape the fate that he believes is destined to catch up with him. It’s a cinematic metaphor for survival in a world ruled by the unseen. The suspense, enhanced by haunting visuals and intense performances, makes Osoronga a standout in the supernatural genre.

The film boasts an all-star cast, including Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Bimbo Akintola, Faithia Williams, Saheed Osupa, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Dele Odule, Joke Muyiwa, Kenny George, and many more. With a robust technical crew and elaborate production design led by RealArt Communications, the project is a full-circle showcase of Yoruba heritage and filmmaking excellence.

Hot on the heels of Osoronga is Omo Sheu, released in March 2025, in which Chatta stars alongside Debbie Shokoya and Damola Olatunji. In this gritty, streetwise drama, he portrays a complex character navigating the urban chaos of Lagos, balancing humor and sorrow with a seasoned performance.

In Labake Olododo, which premiered on March 28, 2025, Chatta delivers yet another layered performance as a morally torn village elder in a story woven with betrayal, loyalty, and forgiveness. Alongside co-stars Bukunmi Oluwasina, Femi Adebayo, and Odunlade Adekola, he solidifies his place as a master of traditional roles.

Abere, released in February 2025, showcases a softer yet intense side of Chatta’s acting. Playing a man entangled in familial duty and forbidden love, he shares the screen with Ireti Osayemi in a drama that resonates with themes of sacrifice and cultural expectations.

Also in the spotlight is Lisabi: The Uprising, a Netflix historical epic released in late 2024. Set during colonial resistance in Yorubaland, the film sees Chatta in a significant supporting role that blends passion, history, and defiance.

From mystical thrillers to dramatic narratives and historical epics, Ibrahim Chatta is not just acting—he is crafting legacies. With Osoronga as a flagship of his creative vision and a testament to his storytelling prowess, Chatta proves that his influence in Nollywood is both wide-ranging and enduring.

As fans tune in on Prime Video and look ahead to what’s next, one thing remains certain: Ibrahim Chatta is a force reshaping the future of Yoruba cinema, one powerful story at a time.
