Bullion Records’ fast-rising star, Abdul Rahman Yusuf, popularly known as Harcher, delivered an explosive and memorable performance that set the tone for the MTV Base Day 2025 celebration at the vibrant Voda Beach, Elegushi, Lekki, Lagos. The event, which started Friday night and ran into the early hours of Saturday, May 16–17, marked the first stop in a thrilling three-part series celebrating 20 years of MTV Base on the African continent.

Harcher’s Arrival at MTV Base Base Day 2025

Taking center stage amidst a sea of cheering fans, Harcher’s energetic delivery and commanding stage presence captivated the crowd, reaffirming his place as one of Nigeria’s most promising music sensations.

Speaking to journalists after his performance, Harcher expressed both nostalgia and excitement:

“I’ve been watching MTV Base since I was a kid. To now have my music career elevated by the same platform is a dream come true,” he said. “This performance was just a glimpse of what Bullion Records has in store for our Lagos fans. We’re taking good music lovers on a journey across the country and beyond.”

MTV Base, Africa’s leading youth and pop culture platform, has been instrumental in spotlighting the continent’s musical talents since its launch in 2005. Now in its 20th year, the brand continues to influence the pulse of African pop culture through a 360-degree approach—offering platforms, events, and engaging content that allow audiences to share, discover, and celebrate music.

This year’s Base Day 2025 series promises a cultural takeover, blending sound, style, and community spirit in three major Nigerian cities—Lagos, Calabar, and Abuja. The Lagos edition lived up to the hype, with Voda Beach pulsing to electrifying beats and unforgettable performances that embodied the spirit of the MTV Base legacy.

Harcher, reflecting on the night, said:

“I really enjoyed the vibes and captivating moments of my performance today. My fans should expect more energy and even bigger performances in the next cities. We’re just getting started.”

The next destination on the MTV Base Day 2025 tour is Calabar, the Canaan City, where the celebration will continue on Sunday, June 1, at the Hogis Royale Car Park. Fans can expect another immersive experience of music, culture, and interaction—elements that have become the hallmark of the MTV Base brand.

The tour will wrap up in August with the Romies Block Party Activation in Abuja, bringing the Base Day energy to Nigeria’s capital with high-octane performances, fashion, and community-centered engagement.

As MTV Base continues to uphold its commitment to African artistry and youth culture, artists like Harcher represent the platform’s enduring influence and the exciting future of music across the continent.

“MTV Base started this journey 20 years ago with a vision for African music. Today, that vision is stronger than ever—and I’m proud to be part of it,” Harcher reiterated.
