Fuji legend faces six-month blacklist and possible prosecution as aviation authorities probe incident over contested flask contents

K1 De Ultimate

By Ibrahim Kegbegbe

Abuja – Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued an unreserved apology over his conduct during an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

In a statement on Friday, August 8, the 68-year-old musician described the episode as “unfortunate” and said he never intended to violate aviation protocols. He also insisted that the flask in his possession contained only water, contrary to allegations by airport authorities that it was alcohol.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had accused the musician of attempting to board a ValueJet flight with a liquid exceeding the 100ml limit, spilling the contents on an official, and obstructing the aircraft from taxiing.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to prosecute K1 under aviation safety laws. The agency has also blacklisted him for six months, while Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo ordered that his name be placed on a no-fly list pending investigation.

K1’s daughter has publicly defended her father, accusing FAAN and NCAA of misrepresentation, and reiterating that the flask only contained water.

The matter remains under investigation.
