Leaders and members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) gathered in Lagos to honour the late Senior Apostolic Mother, Oyinade Teluwo, mother of Hon. Kehinde Teluwo, the party’s Ogun Central senatorial candidate in the 2023 general election.

The final burial rites for the revered matriarch, who passed away at the age of 74, were held between Thursday, April 24, and Friday, April 25, 2025. A Christian wake-keeping service took place at Bemil Chapel of Epiphany, Kings Avenue, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, on Thursday evening, followed by the funeral service at the same venue the next day. A grand reception was later held at 10 Degree Events Centre, Billingsway Road, Oregun Industrial Estate, Ikeja.

Among those present to pay their last respects were the Southwest Chieftain of the NNPP, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, and the Ogun State NNPP Chairman, Barrister Olufemi John Aina. They were joined by other top party officials, including Mrs. Shakirat Arowolo, Secretary of the Ogun State chapter; Hon. Kilamuwaye Badmus Oladayo, the Southwest Public Relations Officer; and Hon. Omokehinde Olayemi Olowu, Ogun State Public Relations Officer.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ajadi described the late Mama Oyinade Teluwo as “a woman of unwavering faith and remarkable resilience,” whose virtues were evident in the lives of her children.
“We are not just mourning; we are celebrating a life well-lived. Mama lived a life of service to God and humanity, and it is no surprise that she raised a son like Hon. Kehinde Teluwo, who remains a pillar of strength and commitment within our party,” Ajadi said.

Barrister Aina, in his tribute, said the loss was not only to the Teluwo family but to the NNPP family as a whole.
“Mama Teluwo was a mother to us all. Her encouragement to Hon. Kehinde throughout his political journey was a source of inspiration. Today, we stand united with the Teluwo and Ogunsanwo families in honouring her memory,” he stated.

In an emotional response, Hon. Kehinde Teluwo expressed his profound gratitude to the party leadership and members for their show of solidarity during his time of grief.
“The presence of my leaders and colleagues here today brings me great comfort. My mother was a strong believer in service and community spirit, and seeing this outpouring of love affirms everything she stood for,” he said.

The funeral ceremony, filled with solemn prayers and heartfelt tributes, was a testament to the impactful life that Senior Apostolic Mother Oyinade Teluwo lived and the legacy she leaves behind.
