APC Wins Four Seats, APM Takes One in Four-State Bye-Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won four of the five legislative seats contested in the September 19, 2026 bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the elections covered the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State, Sakwa and Disina State Constituencies in Bauchi State, and Udu State Constituency in Delta State. INEC’s results portal lists all five constituencies among the elections conducted on September 19.

In Gombe, the APC candidate won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency with 41,121 votes, defeating the Labour Party (LP), which polled 3,553 votes. The Action Peoples Party (APP) recorded 872 votes, while the National Democratic Party (NDP) secured 707 votes. The ADC result was listed as not available in the figures.

In Kano State, the APC also emerged victorious in the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency with 22,890 votes. The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) scored 270 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) obtained 108 votes. The ADC result was listed as not available. INEC’s portal shows all 303 expected polling-unit results for the Dawakin Kudu election uploaded.

Bauchi State produced two different outcomes. In the Disina State Constituency, the APC won with 5,846 votes, followed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) with 5,225 votes, while the PRP recorded 3,701 votes. However, in the Sakwa State Constituency, the APM secured the seat, giving the party one victory among the five bye-elections held across the four states.

In Delta State, the APC candidate won the Udu State Constituency with 8,724 votes, while the PDP polled 212 votes and the APM recorded 33 votes. The outcome gave the APC four of the five seats contested in the September 19 bye-elections, with the APM taking the remaining Bauchi seat.
