The ongoing political drama in Oyo State took a new turn as supporters of media personality Oriyomi Hazmat and Queen Naomi have called for a more compassionate approach to governance, emphasizing that love—not political strategies—will determine the 2027 political landscape in Ibadan.

This follows comments by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who recently declared that Oriyomi Hazmat and Queen Naomi must face the law, adding that the leniency shown to the organizers of stampedes in Anambra and Abuja would not be replicated in this case.

In a joint statement, the lovers of Oriyomi Hazmat and Queen Naomi urged political leaders to embrace the core values of love preached by both Christianity and Islam. Quoting the words of Jesus Christ, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31), and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said, “None of you has faith until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself,” the group called for a shift from politics of bitterness to one of unity and compassion.

“We need governors, senators, and representatives who will govern with love and empathy, not cruelty and bitterness,” the statement read. “Love must play a pivotal role in shaping our future, especially in Ibadan.”

The supporters further argued that the forthcoming elections in Oyo State should not be defined by divisive rhetoric but by a commitment to the welfare of the people. They emphasized that only leaders who demonstrate love and fairness will gain the trust of the electorate in 2027.

This development has sparked discussions about the role of compassion and humanity in politics, with many citizens agreeing that the values of love and unity are often overlooked in the race for power.

While Governor Makinde has doubled down on his stance, stating that no one is above the law, the lovers of Oriyomi Hazmat and Queen Naomi remain firm in their belief that justice must be tempered with compassion.

As Oyo State prepares for another election cycle, it remains to be seen how much the appeal for love and empathy will influence the political strategies of aspiring leaders. For now, the message from Ibadan is clear: love, not cruelty, should lead the way.
