Hon. Kazeem Ganiyu Olarenwaju Onipako

LAGOS — In a heartfelt phone call to The Merit Newspaper on Monday, May 12, the Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Hon. Kazeem Ganiyu Olarenwaju, popularly known as Onipako, outlined a vision centered on inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and accessible healthcare, pledging to serve the people of Eti-Osa if elected.

“My vision is to become the next chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, for the betterment of lives and properties in Eti-Osa and its environs,” Onipako stated earnestly.

In a tone filled with humility and conviction, the PDP candidate rolled out a series of proposed initiatives that would shape his administration’s mission, should he be entrusted with the mantle of leadership.

“My mission includes free healthcare programs, regular free eye tests and provision of eyeglasses for residents, and frequent clearing of drainage to prevent flooding and promote environmental health,” he said.

Onipako emphasized his focus on the youth, describing them as the bedrock of any thriving society. “We will organize talent hunts for our youth to help them discover their potential—whether in football, table tennis, or other fields. This will be backed by job creation schemes and skills acquisition programs,” he noted.

In a rare gesture of reverence, the PDP flagbearer acknowledged the nonpartisan role of traditional rulers within Eti-Osa. “The Obas in Eti-Osa are not fathers to any single political party—they are fathers to all,” he said, adding, “I love and respect them so much, including all the Baales. They give listening ears to everyone who comes to them for advice or support.”

He recounted how the traditional rulers consistently encourage aspirants to “go and do your homework and be prayerful to God,” a statement he said reflects their wisdom and neutrality. “They are good leaders to all political parties and individuals—not just to one person or one group.”

As the race for the local government chairmanship heats up, Onipako’s message strikes a tone of humility, responsibility, and people-oriented leadership—an appeal he hopes will resonate with the grassroots.

“I am not making promises I cannot fulfill. I am only offering to serve sincerity and the fear of God,” he reiterated.
