Habib Okikiola Omolalomi Portable

By Ibrahim Kegbegbe

Popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has expressed remorse after being arraigned at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, February 19.

Speaking through his lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, Portable stated that he had learned his lesson. Ayodele also pleaded for bail on his behalf.

The 30-year-old artist had previously been declared wanted for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). His arrest followed repeated refusals to honor police invitations after the detention and arraignment of nine of his protégés at the same court.

Portable faced multiple charges, including conspiracy, assault, obstruction, and possession of weapons such as cutlasses and guns—offenses deemed likely to cause harm. However, he pleaded not guilty.

His nine protégés had earlier been arraigned on similar charges on February 6.

Following his plea, Ayodele urged the court to grant him bail, assuring the judge that Portable was now remorseful and had learned from the experience.

The court adjourned the case to March 5 for trial.
