Barrister Femi John Aina

By Ibrahim Kegbegbe

The Ogun State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Barrister Olufemi  John Aina, has initiated a special Ramadan gift package aimed at supporting the elderly as they prepare for the upcoming fasting period, which begins on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

The package, labeled “NNPP Ramadan Gift for the Elderly,” contains essential food items such as rice, beans, sugar, milk, Milo, and other domestic necessities to ease the burden of fasting, particularly for senior citizens in Ogun State.

Speaking in a phone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, February 25, Barrister Aina emphasized that the initiative was his personal effort to provide relief to elderly NNPP members and other vulnerable citizens in the state.

“This initiative is my little way of supporting our elderly ones, especially during this sacred month of Ramadan. Many of them struggle with basic needs, and this is to ensure they have enough to sustain them during the fasting period,” Aina said.

He further noted that the package is not limited to elderly individuals who are actively fasting but extends to all senior citizens, regardless of their ability to observe the fast.

“Even those whose old age prevents them from fasting will still receive the package because Ramadan is a time for care, love, and community support. It is a month when we should make the elderly feel valued and included,” he added.

Aina called on well-meaning individuals, religious organizations, and other political leaders to emulate such acts of kindness, stressing that true leadership involves prioritizing the well-being of the people, especially the most vulnerable in society.

The NNPP chairman also assured that his party remains committed to grassroots development and community-focused initiatives that bring direct benefits to the people of Ogun State.

As Ramadan approaches, the initiative has been widely commended by party members and residents who see it as a timely intervention amid the prevailing economic challenges.
